Growth Characteristics
Afghani#1 grows much like the two strains that make it up (Afghani and Skunk). I found that 99% of the plants were perfectly uniform. They were an exact compromise between the short and stout Afghani and the tall and slender Skunk. They were not too branchy and not too tall and they had the build of an Indica/ Sativa mix. I found that this strain does have a decent stretch during flowering. And, they gobble up Fertilizers like theres no tomorrow and they do well with minimal amounts of water.
Yield
The Afghani#1 is one of the best yielding strains that I have grown. I was able to yield approximately 2.5-3 oz per plant and all the plants were between 25-30 inches tall. Most of the weight is in the center cola, then you have about 5-6 mini colas around the main cola.
Bud Condition
Afghani#1 buds have a very basic form, except for the long fat mini colas. They are quite large and bulky. They have medium crystallization (tricomes), but they are extremely sticky. You will not be able to cut up a decent size bud without having to stop and clean your scissors.
Aroma and Taste
The smell of Afghani#1 throughout vegetation is medium-heavy smell. Smell can easily get out of control as you increase the number of Afghani#1s that you grow. However, during flowering the smell becomes much more pungent and musky. This is NOT a low odor strain.
The buds have a deep pungent/ skunk smell along with a strong lemon accent. It is quite unique and pleasant. When the buds are cut up it fills the room with the stench of kick-ass marijuana. The taste can be best described as a deep lemon smell with skunk undertones.
The smoke is easy to take in with a good cure. It is not too expansive.
Buzz
The Afghani#1 has a very unique buzz. Surprisingly, I find it to be quite exotic. This is definitely one of the best CREEPER weeds out there. The transition is very smooth and comfortable. At times it has a really strong kick to it and as it is rising in strength one keeps asking, how much higher will I get? Once it is peaking it can become quite intense, then it subsides and continues to kick for a few hours. Afghani#1 lasts a long time. After the UP high fades away one is left with the heavy undertones of the Afghani which are narcotic and sleepy in nature.
Two very beautiful aspects of this strain are its thought provoking nature and its ability to magnify sound/ music. Thoughts will enter your mind like a river has ripples, and music will have meaning beyond words can express. Good smoke, intense, & mellow.
