Growing Profile:  The Next 'Newbie'
Grow Setup: 250 watt HPS
Grow Medium: DWC Hydro
Yield: 4.5 oz
Overall Potency: 6/10
Feeding: General Hydroponics changed every 2 weeks
Strain Profile:   Great for beginners

Method: Two skunk#1 plants (one indica phenotype and one sativa phenotype) in a deep water culture hydro set up. I used GH nutes with a 1/4 teaspoon of epsom salts added to make up for a magnesium shortage. The plants were vegged for about 3.5 weeks. The indica phenotype was flowered for 7 weeks and the sativa flowered for 9 weeks. Observations: Both plants grew very quickly. the indica type grew quite wide and had a somewhat low bud to leaf ratio. the sativa type grew taller and had a very high bud to leaf ratio. the indica type had leafy buds which were covered in lots of crystals. the sativa type's buds had very few leafs but not very many crystals. the smell of the plants were not as strong as i expected but were by no means odourless. the aroma of the plants could be described as sickly sweet...not very skunky at all. Smoke Report: the dried and cured buds from both plants yeilded about 4.5 oz. the smell to the buds was unlike any weed i've ever smelt. it was quite sickly sweet smelling, almost like hops or rancid beer. i would not describe the smell as plesent. the buds were very fluffly and airy. i'm not sure if this is due to the fact that i was only using a 250 watt hps or that this is normal for skunk#1. The flavor of the smoke was very good, not harsh at all. the potency was avarage (6/10) thus a little disapointing. you can feel the high right on your forehead combined with a relaxing mild body buzz. Conclusion: this plant was very easy to grow however the potency was lacking a little bit. i'd recomend this to people who don't enjoy really strong hydo weed. this is a good strain for someone who enjoys mild outdoor weed as opposed to really potent hydro. For my next grow i'm going to try DP Oasis (northern lights #2). peace, tecc.
