I have topped alot of plants in my days but never seen what is going on with The Flying Dutchmen Original Haze. I topped all of my haze, some twice. A few are doing something I did not expect. The topping has induced axial foliage production albeit very slowly, but on a few plants, brand new terminal growth is occurring right out of the stub left! I mean, here I have a 1/2" stub left from the topping, and a few days later right smack dab in the middle of this stub (which is about 3/16" thick) is this new foliar growth. I know what's happening on a hormonal aka auxin basis, just never knew there was tissue in the middle of the stem capable of producing more foliage. I think it is a haze thingie, maybe a Thai deal as Haze has Thai in it. It's like the plant is fighting the auxin re-direction that topping induces. I just keep pinching if off, which does seem to be increasing the axial foliage growth rate.

As an aside, any of you want a challenge hehe, try to grow TFD Haze! It doesn't like high salts and kinda freaked out for a about a week in my new blend of soil - a good drench took care of that. It is slow growing and is the most leggy of sativas I have ever grown (and yeah, it's under a MH) with internodes anywhere from 4 -7" long, very hard to manage. Thin, long leafs too. No question about it, TFD has the real Haze. If you're wondering why I bought it, it is for breeding purposes. It is the original haze brought over by Sam the Skunkman and has the propensity to induce 20% THC in it progeny according to a breeder I talked to at TFD. Should be a good match for my Peak19 faves, all which are very indica in appearance.
