Strain Profile:
After 75 days, my Serious Seeds' Kali Mist have finished.
Clones were taken from my favourite mothers to keep the genetics available. They are currently in my aero system.
I'll be straight, this has been my favourite grow yet... The plants were low maintenance, they were lush green and disease free. I did have a problem with spider mites -- white spots showing on top of the lush green growth, which otherwise showed no nutriant problems... I treated them with "End All", left them for 10 minutes and then rised the plants off under the shower.
I didn't see anymore spider mites for the duration of the grow...
For lighting, I used a combination of a 400W HPS and 400W MH. There are advantages to both, so I figure its a well balanced choice.
I'm done with soil now that I have my aero system. I think once you sample the power of the aerosystems you will quickly convert.
What I have learned. What I would do differently...
Bigger pots --> Budding is directly related to root production.
Less Ferts --> These plants were able to handle more ferts then my past NL and WW genetics however I think they were negitively affected by it and probably would have grown quicker and more vigor with less. It has been proven that excess (not nessasarily "over-ferting". Will stunt both the vertical & flowering growth not to mention effects the taste.
Harvest earlier --> I did an experimental harvest this time around just for kicks... the 48 hour dark period proves to hold some truth, when I tryed it... I noticed the buds were stickier when they came out. I also left a couple plants for a few extra days... this was a mistake... by that time, 40% of the hairs were orange... which isn't much, but the Kali Mist tends not to turn orange in a uniform mannor, it starts on the lowest buds and makes it way up slowly... I suggest you do not wait till all the hairs are orange!
Heres why, the plants that were harvested when 20% of the hairs where orange had a better "up" high, where the later ones seemed to make you "forget" things and more narcotic state... tho the buzz was still intense and potent!
My advice if you grow this strain is to harvest when a quarter of the flowers turn orange.
Get proper supports --> The buds made the plants fall over which was allways a continuous battle. The main colas were the heaviest.
I need to get myself a proper stash box that preserves a certain level of humidity, perhaps a cigar humidor?
The reason I say that is because, I have not smelled such a wonderful aroma from a bud before... my stash box preserves the humidity not bad, but I would prefer to have wetter buds... they seem to smell more then dry ones.
Finally... what your after -- the buzz.
These nuggets are supurb, the best I have ever smoked.
The high lasts hours, and dwindles off, leaving you with no other option but to load up another bowl later on in the day.
My buddy plays guitar and was impressed with the stuff, we both agreed it was the best jam weed so far. You get right into the music...
I have not tryed to make cookies with this stuff yet... tho the idea has been suggested by my friends, I have a feeling that one of these cookies would send you to the moon for a day.
I hope you enjoyed my little Kali Mist report, the least I could do for a community which taught me the tricks of the trade.
