Photoperiod: I listen to Soma. He recommended that somewhere during the 6-7th to set back the photoperiod in 30-minute increments. At day 52, I set the timer back to 11.5 on/12.5 off. I finished with 10 on and 14 off. All plants were kept in the dark 2 additional days.

Drying: Plants were strung up and left to hang in a closet while a fan that cooled the Veg chamber also helped dry. 7 days total. 30 days cured in jars, opened each day for approximately 45 mins.

Problems: None really. There were a little too much nutes locked up and the flush was not as successful as it could have been.

Phenotype: BSK Somango: Great pheno for ScroG. Several side branches. Formed several impressive colas. Pale green leaves from the outset. Loaded with trichomes. Some purplish/red hues in some leaf veins. Touching the plant left your fingers smelling sweet for hours. A striking plant in every way.

Smoke: All reports are from a single fingernail sized budlet smoked in a simple glass pipe ($15). I find the glass bowl to be better for determining flavor. Each test started at the same time each day and was the first high of the day (e.g., Monday 9pm=Somango1, Tuesday 9pm=Lav1, etc?). After reading how the Cannabis Cup winners are determined, I decided that was a ludicrous way to properly judge a strain (40+ strains, 20+ hash in 3 or so days?). To be fair to myself, the breeders, and to those who may purchase a strain based upon a review such as mine, I wanted to control as many variables as possible.

Potency: So1: By quite a wide margin, the BSK pheno Somango was the most potent strain. An ass-kicker of Tito Ortiz-like stature (look him up). This made me feel like I had been under anesthesia, constantly rubbing my eyes to clear my vision. I was pleasantly loopy. A good 4 hour bomb. However, I felt it wasn?t an "up high". I bought the strain due to its description in High Times and Soma?s website. It wasn?t what I was looking for, but it was serendipitously welcome. She?s not a couch-lock either. It was "headier" than ST3 or RockBud, but not what I originally thought. I very glad I have her, but I now want to try Amnesia or Malawi (not Gold). Maybe I have some unusual expectations of what an "up" high actually is. It seems like the way to find out.

Taste/Flavor/Aroma:
So1: Once again, the queen. This BSK Somango was the most pungent strain I?ve come across. The aroma is fruity and smelled nothing like weed. I thought it smelled like grape bubblegum. You will want more on taste alone. I told Soma that I kept my fans on 24/7 just so that So1?s aroma could permeate my apartment. It actually made air fresheners obsolete. If you are a typical bachelor, this strain will nullify your smelly sneakers, pet odors, dirty dishes and such. Sometimes, I?ll crack open a jar from the freezer just to get a whiff of her intoxicating aroma. Smoke: The taste reminds me of how sugar filled soft drinks leave you craving another soda. It leaves a sugary, sometimes skunk(y) after taste in your mouth. The taste stays with you a while after the smoke has been exhaled. I save this one for when I really need it. It?s a special, special plant.
