Strain Profile:

I grew some of Soma Seeds Somango from feminized seeds.

Maybe out of bad luck/conditions I got a lot of hermies and ended up with two all female plants to play with.

The two plants expressed two quite different phenotypes so I'll give 2 reports.

Somango (#1): I call this the BSK pheno after Sakuraba's posts.

Phenotype: Thin to medium wide leaves & farily sativa growth structure. Medium green leaves. Responded well to topping producing a lot of side branches each capable of producing a good sized bud. Fairly long internodes but acceptable. Buds are 80% white hairs. Looked lovely. Vigor: Quite vigorous.

Nutrients: Doesnt like a lot of nutrients early on in cycle. Lower leaves yellowed a lot and required some extra N during flowering. Breeder claims it prefers organic nutes. Probably recommend feeding with Earth Juice throughout.

Smell: Strong. Pleasant lemony/tropical fruit smell. Very nice.

Yield: First plant from seeds is avarage. Not a cash croppper.

Potency: 8/10

High: Smoke tests indicate a strong up high. Very EUPHORIC and fairly sociable. You can feel the edge of the Sativa in it but mixed with something more dazing producing a dreamy body glow. whilst still keepin you fairly alert. Progresses to a more relaxed state. Continued smoking eventually makes one sleepy. Would not want to operate heavy machinery after a couple of Js. Very nice smoke.

Hangover?: The body element to the stone definitely delivers a dope hangover the next day.

Overall: A good plant. Yield was not bad. The smell is LOVELY and smoke is definitely potent. Worth growing as a high-quality balanced head/body smoke. I was wanting and expecting a slightly more up smoke. But this stuff is perfect for smoking whilst listening to music - very rushy.

Somango#2: I call this the Jack Herer pheno for reasons above.

Phenotype: Medium to wide leaves. Poor topping attempt failed and plant carried on to produce the classic indica Christmas-tree shap. Medium internodes.

Vigor: Fairly vigorous but nothing special. Nutrients: Grew well on potting soil + one feed during veg. Some yellowing during flowering. Doesnt like too many nutes. Breeder recommends organic nutes, I agree.

Smell: Strong pleasant tropical mango smell but more minty than the other plant. Not a security risk as far as smell goes.

Yield: First plant from seed is on the low side. Potency: 7/10

High: This is quite unusual weed. The high is quite speedy and electric. Mellows off to a very alert stone. Not remotely sleepy. I could smoke a bowl & go right out & deal with people (quite possibly the police) after smoking this cant be sure it this is due to slight lack of potency or not. Doesnt appear to have any comedown at all.

Overall: I was surprised that the indy looking plant had the more speedy high. Maybe this plant would do better grown from a clone but the yield looks pretty low. The high certainly fits a niche - a real mellow-head-stone weed: nice smell/taste and virtuallty zero body stone. Ideal for toking at a party when you want to feel smoothed off but not out of it. Have to wait & see how it cures. I suspect it'll gain more body.
