If the clone is drooping it might be bacause of too much light (one 20 watter is fine) or because of too much leaf matter. Find a balance between enough leaves for photosynthesis while not straining a developing root system. You can also pare bigger leaves so that only some of the leaf is removed.

Do not dip the clone right in the rooting hormone jar. Dispense some in another container first and dip in there to keep the hormone stash uncontaminated.

Try to have a node covered in hormone and in the growing medium.

If you cannot find rooting hormone here is an organic recipe: cut fresh willow and steep in lukewarm rainwater overnight. Strain and allow to rest for a day.

When taking a clone, be sure to leave a node on that shoot of the mother plant so new growth is still possible.

A cutting can survive for a week with no root system.

One indication that your clone has rooted is when the leaves turn upright.

Never let the growing medium dry out.
